1. What This Reference Is
Alameda Residents Directory is a privately operated reference to public rolls, record indexes, and historical directory collections connected with Alameda, California. It links to agencies, courts, libraries, and other custodians but does not host their records. It has no affiliation with Alameda County, the City of Alameda, the State of California, or any court or records office.
2. Rules for Lawful Use
Use the pages and anything reached through them only for lawful purposes. You must not use the service or a record lead to:
- Stalk, harass, threaten, intimidate, or harm another person.
- Find someone protected by a restraining order, confidentiality program, or other safety measure.
- Commit identity theft, fraud, impersonation, or another unlawful act.
- Make a decision regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, including credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions.
- Scrape, republish, or copy the pages at scale without permission.
- Attack, disrupt, reverse engineer, or interfere with the operation or security of the service.
3. No Consumer Reporting Agency
Alameda Residents Directory is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. section 1681 and following sections. The pages and any result returned by a linked tool are not consumer reports. They must not be used to judge eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another purpose covered by that law.
4. Links and Sponsored Tools
External agencies, libraries, courts, archives, and sponsored search providers control their own content, availability, fees, terms, and data practices. A link does not mean Alameda Residents Directory endorses the destination. Use the destination’s current notice and verify the custodian before submitting information or paying a charge.
5. No Warranties
The reference is provided as available and without warranties, express or implied. We do not promise that a page, office link, fee, coverage year, search result, or external portal is accurate, complete, current, secure, or continuously available.
6. Limits on Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or similar damages arising from use of these pages, linked services, or records found through them, including action taken from an inaccurate or incomplete result.
7. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold the operators harmless from claims, losses, demands, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising from your misuse of the reference, violation of these terms, or unlawful use of a record or linked service.
8. Intellectual Property
The original writing, design, logo, and layout belong to the operators or their licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual-property law. Linking to a page and quoting a short attributed excerpt is allowed. Full-page republication, systematic copying, and commercial reuse require permission.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these terms by posting a replacement version here. The revised text applies when posted. Continued use after the posting date signifies acceptance of the change.
10. Restricting Access
We may block, limit, or end access for a person who violates these terms, abuses the pages, or threatens service security. We may do so without advance notice where necessary to protect the service or other users.
11. California Law Applies
California law governs these terms without applying its conflict-of-law rules. Public-record references are subject to the California Public Records Act, Government Code sections 7920.000-7931.000. Privacy handling is also subject, where applicable, to the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, Civil Code section 1798.100 and following sections, and the California Delete Act, Civil Code section 1798.99.80 and following sections. Those statutes govern public agencies or covered businesses, not a promise that every linked record is available.
12. Severability
If a court finds one provision unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. The invalid part will be limited or replaced only as much as necessary to make the rest operative.
13. Questions
Questions about these terms may be sent through the Contact page. Questions about an official record belong with the custodian named on the relevant Alameda page.
