Data You Give Us Directly
If you type a name, phone number, or address into a search widget, that submission is sent to the third-party provider that operates the results service. Alameda Residents Directory does not keep a copy of the search terms on its own servers. If you contact us, we receive the contents of your message and use them to answer or route the question.
Automatic Logs and Analytics
Our host may record ordinary technical logs, including IP address, browser and device information, pages requested, and timestamps. We use aggregate information to maintain the pages, identify broken links, and understand general traffic. Where analytics or advertising measurement is enabled, cookies or similar technologies may process the normal data required for that service.
How We Use Information
Operational data is used to run, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the reference. Aggregate traffic can help show which local-record topics need clearer instructions. We do not sell a visitor list, create individual dossiers, or intentionally build a personal profile from ordinary visits.
Links to Other Websites
Pages link to Alameda County and City portals, California agencies, courts, libraries, archives, and sponsored search tools. A visit to one of those destinations is governed by that operator’s terms and privacy notice. Submitting information to a government custodian or third-party results provider is not the same as submitting it to Alameda Residents Directory.
Who May Receive Data
Hosting and technical service providers may process server logs to keep the pages online. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the limited automatic information described above. We disclose information when a valid legal process requires it or when necessary to protect the service, and otherwise keep disclosures limited to the purposes stated here.
Security and Retention
The reference is served over an encrypted connection. Logs are retained only for as long as their maintenance, security, or measurement purpose requires, subject to the host’s normal practices. There are no Alameda Residents Directory accounts, passwords, or stored user profiles for an intruder to access.
Visitors Under 18
The service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor sent us information may use the Contact page to request review and deletion of information we control.
Your California Privacy Rights
The California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, is codified in Civil Code section 1798.100 and following sections. Subject to its exceptions, it can provide rights to know, correct, delete, and opt out of sale or sharing of personal information held by a covered business. The California Delete Act, SB 362, appears in Civil Code section 1798.99.80 and following sections and provides a separate broker-deletion process through the state’s DROP program.
Alameda Residents Directory keeps little personal information. You may use the Contact page to ask what we control, request correction, or request deletion. Public records maintained by Alameda County, the City of Alameda, California agencies, courts, or libraries are outside our custody. The California Public Records Act, Government Code section 7920.000 and following sections, governs access to nonexempt public-agency records; a request to remove or correct one of those records must go to the agency that created or maintains it.
Updates to This Policy
This page may change when the service, vendors, or California privacy requirements change. The revised wording becomes effective when posted. Continued use after an update indicates acceptance of the revised policy.
